Speech by Mr. Liang Eng Hwa, Adviser to Bukit Panjang Grassroots Organizations at the CDAC@ Bukit Panjang Open House

CDAC@ BUKIT PANJANG OPEN HOUSE

Dear children, parents, volunteers, partners, and CDAC colleagues,

Good morning. Thank you for inviting me to the CDAC@ Bukit Panjang Open House event.

Theme: Reimagine Your World

Every year, CDAC supports low-income Chinese families through bursaries, tuition support, and financial assistance, ensuring that our children have access to better education. CDAC has enhanced its education programmes to offer children from these families, providing more opportunities to develop interests and hobbies through hands-on activities.

In line with this commitment, CDAC@ Bukit Panjang has undergone a transformation. After months of renovation, the centre now offers a refreshed environment with enhanced facilities and, for the first time, an innovative tinkering space. This new addition is designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and a hands-on learning experience for our children, who we know thrive when given the space to imagine, create, and explore.

Thanks to VIVITA for helping to establish this tinkering space and creating a safe environment where our children can make, play, and experiment freely. This brings us to today’s theme, "Reimagine Your World", which encourages us all to reimagine new possibilities for the growth of our children right here at the Bukit Panjang centre.

Through today’s Open House, CDAC wants to introduce you to the new space and the variety of programmes it offers to meet the needs of each group in our community, from children and youth to families and seniors. We invite everyone to unleash their creativity and reimagine what learning and community can be. As you walk through the new spaces and participate in the activities, each of your involvement contributes to building a stronger community. I understand this is in line with one of the key enablers for upward social mobility that CDAC has come up with, and that is to encourage community rootedness, generating a sense of belonging and togetherness.

Today’s event celebrates the tinkering spirit that’s present in all of us. This same spirit is represented in the Community Art Piece on the stage, which everyone here has contributed to. I encourage you to explore the centre, participate in the activities, and discover what CDAC offers to the community. Concluding Words

A special thank you to our partners and volunteers for their contributions, which have made today’s event possible. Thank you all for joining us, and let’s take the first step in reimagining our world with CDAC today.
