The economic impact of COVID-19 will last long and vulnerable members in the community will be most affected. To help low-income families to cope with the challenges, we will be setting aside another $5 million to provide additional support to the Chinese community. This is the third round of assistance provided to the community since the outbreak of COVID-19. The assistance includes:
New Help Measures:
- $300 Education Grant
A second round of $300 one-time Education Grant will be disbursed to 7,500 identified CDAC beneficiary families with young or school-going children. Grant will be disbursed from September onwards. There is no application required for the grant.
- CDAC-SFCCA Bursary 2021
Application for the Bursary 2021 for students in Primary School and Secondary School will open in August.
- ‘Ready for School!’
The value of the vouchers in the Family Pack given at the annual year-end ‘Ready for School!’ event will increase. Each invited student will receive Ready for School vouchers of $80 and every invited family will also receive a $260 worth of grocery and transport vouchers in their Family Pack.
Help Measures that were previously announced in March and April:
- A $300 one-time Education Grant to current beneficiary families with young or school-going children
- A $720 Youth Empowerment & Aspiration Programme (YEAP) to 5,000 post-secondary students
CDAC will invite post-secondary institutions to nominate eligible students for the Grant. Grant will be disbursed to students through their institutions from June onwards.
