CDAC was very understanding and provided assistance in all ways possible. That helped me get back on my feet and set my life back on track.
Mr Tan Cheng Soon, 35, a father of two, remembers a time when he had difficulties making ends meet.
As the sole breadwinner of his family, he fell on hard times when his contract as an associate engineer was not renewed in August 2017. He was in despair because he had to make loan payments on his flat, as well as come up with money for his sons’ basic expenses and school fees. He recalls:“We had very little money left for food.”
His friends and relatives suggested that he approach CDAC for help. Through CDAC Workfare Programme, which provided financial assistance for basic daily living expenses, the family of four made it through the difficult period. Mr Tan also attended a two-day workshop where he learnt resume writing and interview skills. He found a job shortly after and is now a project engineer.
He is grateful for the support he received. “CDAC was very understanding and provided assistance in all ways possible. That helped me get back on my feet and set my life back on track.”
