CDAC had introduced help measures last month to support the lower-income families in the Chinese community to cope with the financial challenges faced during COVID-19 period.
As Singapore faces more significant challenges in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government announced a $20 million grant to the four Self-Help Groups (SHGs) over the next two years. So the SHGs could assist the vulnerable groups in the community. CDAC will be receiving $5 million grant this year.
With this, CDAC will enhance and provide additional help measures that were previously announced in March. We will strengthen our support for our beneficiary families and assist them in coping with the uncertainties during this difficult time.
Enhanced & Additional Measures:
- A $300 one-time Education Grant to 10,000 current beneficiary households who have school-going or young children. Grant will be disbursed from May. There is no application required for the grant.
- A $720 Youth Empowerment & Aspiration Programme (YEAP) to 5,000 post-secondary students. CDAC will invite post-secondary institutions to nominate eligible students for the Grant. Grant will be disbursed to students through their institutions from June onwards.
Help Measures that were previously announced in March:
Besides the above help measures, individuals and families who need more support could continue to tap on existing CDAC’s assistance schemes to tide over this challenging time. For more on our existing schemes, click HERE.
