Family Befrienders

FAMILY BEFRIENDERS

Volunteers are recruited and trained to act as Family Befrienders to maintain regular contacts with the families and assist them in meeting the objectives of the CDAC Workfare Programme.

Recruitment & Training

CDAC conducts two recruitment drives for its Family Befrienders in January/February and June/July each year. Interested volunteers will be invited for a screening interview. Selected volunteers will then undergo a one-month basic training programme that covers topics such as roles and responsibilities of Family Befrienders, self-understanding, basic helping skills, value system and resources available in the community.

Each volunteer will be assigned to befriend one or more families after the basic training programme. Case sharing sessions and other training programmes will be organized to further enhance the skills and knowledge of the Family Befrienders.
