ITE OFFICE SKILLS COURSES (PART TIME)


INTRODUCTION 

Office skills courses offered by Institute of Technical   Education (ITE) leading to National ITE Certificate (Nitec) and Higher National ITE Certificate (Higher Nitec).

 

COURSE CONTENT                   

Nitec in Service Skills (Office)

 

¨ Handle telephone calls    ¨ Provide frontline service

¨ Arrange for meetings and travel arrangements
¨ Handle daily office operations
¨ Process payments and business documents
¨ Organise company activities or events

 

To attain full certification, applicants must attain at least 26 credits (made up of core modules)

 

 

Higher Nitec in Business Studies (Administration)

 

Equip applicants with the skills and knowledge to handle a range of administrative tasks and increase the efficiency and productivity of a  business unit

                       

To attain full certification, applicants must attain at least 63 credits (made up of 55 credits for core and 8 credits for elective modules)

 

 

Higher Nitec in Accounting

 

Equip applicants with the skills and knowledge of accounting and for employment in the various sectors

 

To attain full certification, applicants must attain at least 68 credits (made up of 60 credits for core and 8 credits for elective modules)

 

COURSE MEDIUM

ENTRY REQUIREMENT

 

Nitec : 2 GCE 'O' Grades (Grade 1-8) in any 2 subjects; or
3 GCE 'N' Passes (Grade A-D or Grade 1-5) in English Language and 2 other subjects.

 

Higher Nitec : Nitec in Service Skills or 3 GCE 'O' level passes: English Language (Grade 1-6) Mathematics/  Additional Mathematics (Grade 1 - 8) and one other subject (Grade 1 - 7)

COURSE SCHEDULE

For Higher Nitec course, 2 intakes per year, i.e. every April and October.

 

For Nitec course, 2 intakes per year, i.e. every January and July.

                                                                                   

Evening classes twice a week from 6.45pm to 9.45pm; Weekend class once a week on Saturday or Sunday from 9am to 5pm.

 

EXAMINATION

Participants need to take both practical and theory tests.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

 

Age / Course                                 

18 years and above and have completed National Service.
                                   

Applicants must apply for the course at ITE Centres first.
(Please refer to ITE’s advertisement in Straits Times in mid-February or mid-August for Higher Nitec Courses commencing in April or October. In mid-October and mid-April for Nitec intake commencing in January or July respectively.)
                                                              

Then submit the original copy of the official receipt and schedule issued by ITE together with the CDAC Skills Training Award application form to CDAC by 15 March for the April intake; 15 June for the July intake; 15 September for the October intake and 30 November for the January intake. The course fees will be reimbursed to successful applicants.
